I have been a close friend of Cathy's for years and have read all of her books.....have read some galleys and also listened to her thoughts for new books. Snowflake is a particular and special book for me. Prior to the printing of the book, I lost my dear mother. When I spoke with Cathy about the service she sent me several pages which she thought would be appropriate for a memorial service.The words were so soothing and comforting that I will always remember that day.I have read the book several times and each time I can realize how wonderfully meaningful her words were to me and that she was such a dear friend to share with me at such an extremely difficult time.I have to say this book is very dear to me.....and I guess my favorite for such personal reasons. I've read all of her books and laughed and cried while reading them....never wanting them to end. Cathy is a dear friend but she is also a genius, a fabulous writer, a sensitive and caring person in her writings which is her way in real life.I feel blessed to have her as a friend. I only want her to continue writing as each book represents her special sensitivity,her wit and her genius. Snowflake is a must read and also a re-read. It's a keeper for our bookshelf!
This treasure of a book is both life affirming and soul searching. Each prayer a story, each question a revelation, each verse an insight. A cathartic read with lasting spiritual and emotional effect.
I was all set to read this book with a heavy heart. I had so much in common with the subject of this book. Loss, grief, and how to ever put in a special place all of the feelings that go along with this subject. Cathy just pulls at your heartstrings ever so gently; to guide and smooth the way forward. I appreciate the intimacy of the superb writing of the words that somehow help to heal and caress the spirit. The pain is never erased, but instead becomes a positive part of my life. I'm haven't had a chance to get to this book yet. But Cathy Cash Spellman is a great author and story teller you can't go wrong with her.
Heart wrenching poems, essays and prayers by Spellman written during a very difficult time in her life. They express her grief, hope and recovery from loss.
